Dan Walker

Dan Walker has tribal affiliations to Tangahoe, Ngati Ruanui, Nga Ruahine, Ngati Kahungunu ki Wairoa, Te Atiawa, Maniapoto, Tuhourangi and Pakeha. He is a mokopuna of the great freedom fighter Tītokowaru and wahine (female) leader Ruaputahanga. Through the help of his whanau, his elders and his tribal teachers, Dan has learned much of his Māori cultural wisdom through the 15+ years of service to his iwi tribe Ngāti Ruanui. His experiences shaped his belief that Indigenous wisdom is for everyone and we need to reclaim this wisdom that has been handed down to us. His Masters degree was about tikanga Māori ki te ao matihiko - Māori values as a framework for digital leadership. This journey led him down interviews with Indigenous leaders from around the world about Indigenous wisdom from a digital context. Dan will discuss some of these Indigenous approaches to technology and how Māori are starting to collaborate with modern legal and corporate frameworks for true long-term inter-generational change for our future. Dan lives in Tāmaki Makaurau (Auckland) with his wife Michelle and their three tamariki Josh, Tyler and Maia. Dan is Co-Chair of Indigenous at Microsoft where he is focused on supporting Indigenous empowerment wherever Microsoft is and raising the Indigenous voice in technology globally. Read Full Story

Chi-Ju, Johnny Wu

Johnny, the Head of Global Relations at the Office of International Affairs, at National Taiwan University, is dedicated to fostering international youth participation and cultivating global talent in Taiwan. Previously, he served as the CEO of the Center for Global Affairs and Science Engagement at the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST GASE), the Director of the Office of International Affairs, and the Chinese Language Center at Shih Chien University. Additionally, he represented the youth of Chinese Taipei at the APEC Summit.

During his tenure at the Ministry of Science and Technology, Johnny made significant contributions to enhancing Taiwan's scientific landscape. He played a key role in establishing a robust scientific information platform, fostering research momentum in Taiwan, and promoting collaboration between industry and academia.

In addition to his role at NTU, Johnny serves as an instructor for the USC Global Fellows Internship Program and contributes as an advisory panelist for various organizations, including the Ministry of Education, Global Initiatives Symposium in Taiwan (GIS Taiwan), Hult Prize Taiwan, among others.

Recognized for his managerial excellence, Johnny was shortlisted among the 100 MVP Managers by Managers' Monthly Magazine Taiwan, being the first and only awardee from the education field. In 2022, he received the prestigious "Alumni de l'annee" award from the French Office in Taipei. Since 2023, Johnny has taken on the role of Working Group Leader for Industry-Academia Cooperation of the Low Carbon Initiative at the European Chamber of Commerce Taiwan, showcasing his unwavering commitment to international development and education. I am currently employed as an Emergency Housing Support Service Coordinator at the Pacific Trust Otago, a charitable organization supporting the Pasifika community in Dunedin, New Zealand. I work with vulnerable Pasifika families to provide opportunities to support their desires to become self-reliant and take responsibility for their health, economic, leadership, community connections, social, and well-being. I have worked as a Pacific Cultural Tutor at the University of Otago Centre of Pacific Health Va’a O Tautai teaching cultural Pacific Curriculum in Health Science for five years. I have a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science, and currently completing Te Taketake Diploma in applied Mental Health and addiction counseling (Level 7), through the Moana House Training Institute (Residential Therapeutic Community for men connected to the Criminal Justice System) and Otago Polytechnic (Te Pukenga). I am fond of being involved in my Cook Islands Community and the local Pacific Islands Community here in Dunedin, New Zealand. Brad Lindsey is an Associate Professor and Director of the Master of Accounting program in the Huntsman School of Business at Utah State University with a teaching emphasis in the areas of taxation and financial accounting. His primary research interests are in corporate tax avoidance, international taxation, accounting for income taxes, and capital markets. Dr. Lindsey's research has been published in the Journal of Accounting Research, Journal of Accounting and Economics, and Journal of Financial Economics among other academic research outlets.

Dr. Lindsey earned his Ph.D. in business administration with an emphasis in accounting from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2006. Prior to beginning his doctoral studies, Dr. Lindsey graduated with bachelor's and master's degrees in accounting from Brigham Young University (1996) and worked first for Deloitte, and then EY, where he was promoted to senior manager. Before joining the USU faculty, Dr. Lindsey held faculty appointments at the College of William & Mary and North Carolina State University.
